One woman's thoughts, opinions and views, as well as my poetry and writings.

Many times, writings are passed around the Internet. As a rule and because I am a Writer, I usually will not post another’s writing and most definitely not, without their permission. This writing came to me without an Authors name listed. I have seen similar writings and you may have already seen this particular one, but in the evenT you haven’t, I would like to share it with you. It truly touched my heart

When God created woman, he was working late. On the 6th day, an angel came by and said, "Why spend so much time on that one?"

And the Lord answered:
“Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet, in order to shape her?” “She must be washable, but not made of plastic, have more than 200 moving parts, which all must be replaceable and she must function on all kinds of food.” “She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time, give a hug that can heal anything…from a bruised knee to a broken heart and she must do this with only two hands.”

The angel was impressed. “Just two hands?.....impossible and this is the standard model?” “Too much work for one day.” “Wait until tomorrow and then complete her.”

“I will not,” said the Lord. “I am so close to completing this creation, which will be the favorite of my heart.”

“She cures herself when she is sick and she can work 18 hours a day.”

The angel came nearer and touched the woman.
“But you have made her so soft, Lord.”

“She is soft,” said the Lord, “but I have also made her very strong.” “You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome.”

“Can she think?” the angel asked.

The Lord answered:
“Not only can she think, but she can reason and negotiate.”

The angel touched the woman’s cheek:
“Lord, it seems this creation is leaking.” “You have put too many burdens on her.”

“She is not leaking.” “It’s a tear” the Lord corrected the angel.
And the Lord said:
“Tears are her way of expressing grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.”

This made a big impression on the angel. “Lord, you are a genius!” “You thought of everything.” “The woman is indeed marvelous!”

Ideed she is!
Woman has strengths that amazes man. She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens. She holds happiness, love and opinions. She smiles when she feels like screaming, sings when she feels like crying, cries when she is happy and laughs when she is afraid. She fights for what she believes in and stands up against injustice. She doesn’t take “no” for an answer, when she can see a better solution. She gives of herself, so her family can thrive. She takes her friend to the Doctor when she is afraid.
She cries when her kids are victorious. She is happy when her friends do well. She is glad when she hears of a birth or a wedding. Her heart is broken, when a next of kin or friend dies, but she finds the strength to get on with life. She knows that a kiss and a hug can heal a broken heart.

“There is only one thing wrong with her,” the Lord stated.

“SHE FORGETS WHAT SHE IS WORTH.”

ASSUMPTIONS

I was having a discussion with a Co-worker the other day, on a word that really makes me cringe and I do mean I cringe, in the literal sense, whenever I hear anyone use it..The word is “assume” I know the adage and I for one believe, that the only one it makes an “ass” out of, is the one who is doing the assuming. I've included a few examples:

You’re redecorating and convey your thoughts to the Designer. After going over your ideas, you ask if your ideas are understood and the Designer states he/she knows just what you want. When the job is finally done, it's not exactly to your liking and question why. That's when you hear the "priceless" phrase: ".Well, I assumed that’s what you wanted." There I go cringing again....lol Why didn’t the Designer just ask for clarification before proceeding, if there were any questions left on his/her mind?

As we’ve all learned, not all assumptions are correct. In fact, the vast majority ore not! This gap in communication, leaves room for misunderstanding, frustration and judgmentalism. When one assumes they know how and what you’re thinking, know exactly what you’re going to do; thereby playing judge and jury, when in reality, the scenario they have played out is not at all what your thoughts were, let alone what the outcome was ever going to be, this action can only lead to the demise of whatever relationship you have...be it friendship, business or love relationship. I think those who assume, should carefully consider the consequences, shoud the assumptions be wrong.

Albert Einstein said that we cannot solve new problems, by using he same approach that got us where we are. He might also have said that we cannot notice fresh opportunities and solutions, if we assume we already know everything. To me that is the key phrase……to assume we already know everything. So, inquire more and assume less.

Take this little test, in story form...... that I found online and try as hard as you can, to make absolutely no assumptions at all.

A Man was walking alone in the jungle, when he saw a tiger jump out from the bushes behind him

He ran as fast as he could along the track ahead of him, until he came to a steep drop of about 30 meters down a clearing below.

The Tiger bounded into sight behind him and the man, obviously fearing for his life, leapt out and landed halfway down the cliff face, where he stopped his fall, by gripping a solitary vine in both hands.

As the vine began to slowly give way, the man saw the tiger's mate appear in the clearing below. The man then looked up and he could see the pursuing Tiger was there looking over the ledge.

The man then saw, just beside him, a lush strawberry plant laden with ripe fruit.
What would you do in these circumstances?

Give this some thought and remember to make no assumptions.

When you believe that you know what you would do, Scroll down.

The best thing to do would be to roar a bit, then settle down and wait patiently until the vine failed and he dropped down into the clearing, probably stunned by the fall and then eat him.

I hope that you didn't ignore my advice and assume that you were the man....or did you?:)

WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME?

Did you ever have a "not so great" day and the most perfect song comes on the radio that turns your frown into a smile?.....or you're having a simply wonderful day and hearing a particular song, makes the end of your day that much nicer? There is a special song that does all that for me. It’s called, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.”
I've heard it said that you can’t go home again and I never totally understood that concept. If someone does have a true understanding of this phrase, I would love if you could enlighten me.
Sometimes you have to leave the home where you were born and raised, for a multitude of reasons. My reason for leaving, was not because I didn't love it there, but because economically it was just "over the top," as far as my being able to survive and enjoy what I consider to be a good quality of life. It doesn't take someone to be a rocket scientist, to know the difference between the salary you earn, the expenses that have to be paid out and what is remaining. The math speaks for itself, so you look for an answer; a resolvement. You do what you have to do, like it or not.
In Florida, I have a great job, my own home and life is easier here economically. I've met the most friendly and hospitable people here. If I said I didn't love it here, I would definitely be telling an untruth. In this case and for the reasons outlined above, making the move, was a correct decision.
My family lives in the Boston area and I did and still struggle with the knowledge, that I can't be with them as often as I would like. I miss them more than I can say!
I wish I had the capability of moving all the positives that I have here to Boston, but I can't. I wish I had the power to "meld" both worlds into one:)
The bottom line is, that you do what you have to do.
In the words of Bonjovi.... You can take the home from the Boy, but not the Boy from his home. It doesn't matter where you are, doesn't matter where you go...if it's a million miles away or just a mile up the road, take it in, take it with you where you go. I've done just that!
I have wonderful memories of the Boston area. I never lost my "love affair" with the city and though some of the people may change, as well as some of the surroundings....it has been said that, "your home is where your heart is" and Boston will forever, remain in my heart.
This lady can definitely go home again, and will visit as often as she can and I am sooooooo looking forward to it:)
if you happen to be traveling down a Florida highway and see a woman dancing in her seat, singing her heart out, playing a mean set of drums on the steering wheel, don't be surprised or afraid. I really am a very careful driver...lol. It's only me....Shayna, singing my heart out with Bon Jovi and Sugarland and thinking of home=Boston:)

Big Brother 7 All Stars

Let The Fun Begin:)

How I love this reality show! I have to admit that Big Brother 6 was the one I enjoyed the most, because I really had more than one favorite person and was thrilled tonight, when my top three, were selected to be in the All Stars. Howie, Janelle and Kaysar are tops in my book. They stayed together all the way through in their alliance and always kept true to their word. The respect they have for each other showed during Big Brother 6 and as soon they walked into the Big Brother house tonight, their allegiance toward each other was instantaneous and without question.

I do like Nakomis. She is definitely an original and a nice person. She makes no bones as to who she is and has proven to be a strong competitor.
James forms an alliance with everyone and lies through his teeth. I know this is a game, but there are some ethics that should be adhered to. Remember when he swore on the bible and then kept back peddling....insisting he never did? An alliance with James, is an alliance with no one..

Jase is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I do believe you will see a much less wild and a more strategic player in him, this time around. But then again on second thought....I think once he gets comfortable, some of the wild man has to come to the surface. A part of me hopes so, because he was so damn funny at times...lol

Will is totally full of himself and I hope the others in the house learn what we did tonight, that Will and Mike "Boogie" own some business ventures together, so they are in cahoots from the getgo Will was actually insulted that he wasn't put up for nomination tonight. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. He took it personally and said the fact he wasn't placed on the eviction block, shows that he is not considered a threat...a force to be reckoned with. He said he was going to show them good. Know what? I hope he pushes all the wrong buttons, shows them good and learns how quickly he can get the boot, especially since h and Mike "Boogie" immediately had their sights set on Kaysar leaving right away.

I know this is a game and there can only be one winner, but I think you can win, by still maintaining your integrity. Stay tuned people.......This is going to be great summer watching!

What Renews Your Spirit?

One of my favorite pasttimes, especially when I've had a very busy day in work and find that after dinner I just need something to help me unwind a bit and somehow keep me awake:), is to locate tests online that I can take. I love the ones that attempt to give you a little more insight into your personality, or what they think might make you "click". IN CELEBRATION OF THE 4TH OF JULY

On July 4th 1776, an assembly of brave and determined Americans announced to the world the birth of a new nation - a nation borne of ideals rather than of coercion, where the power to govern rested with the consent of the people.Today, amid fireworks and backyard barbecues, we reflect on the meaning of the Independence Day, and we pause to remember the tremendous effort and sacrifice of millions of Americans who have preserved that endowment of democracy in the past and for generations yet to come. Two hundred and thirty years later, what does this day...Independence Daymean to us as Americans? For the Armed Forces and our Soldiers, this day is an affirmation of their Call to Duty, and a reminder of why they put boots on the ground ands risk life and limb to preserve freedom throughout the world.
For 231 years, the United States Armed Forces has played a vital role in the growth and development of our nation. Soldiers have fought in dozens of wars, from the American Revolution through two World Wars, the Cold War, and the Gulf War. We have answered the Call to Duty and had our boots on the ground. And now our Soldiers are engaged in another great struggle to protect our nation and our way of life in the Global War on Terrorism. Our Soldiers are the heart of the Armed Forces. They answer the Call to Duty as they always have, with their sacrifices, courage, and heroism. On Independence Day, it is especially important to focus on the many freedoms Americans take for granted. During this time of great sacrifice for our nation as it fights a war against terrorism on a global scale, our Soldiers need your help in answering the Call to Duty. All Americans can answer the Call to Duty by recognizing their sacrifices and celebrating their courage. On this 4th of July, thank a Soldier for giving up the pleasures of home and family for the hardship of combat in Iraq or Afghanistan. Our Soldiers continue to bring freedom throughout the world. Today, Independence Day, let us celebrate this great day in their honor, and in the honor of the people they are helping to free. Soldiers who answer the Call to Duty are engaged in the noblest work of life. They are Americas sons and daughters, putting boots on the ground to protect our nation and enable others to live free
Today in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in more than 120 countries throughout the world, American Soldiers stand guard, the last defense of freedom against tyranny and injustice. I would like to thank all of our heroes for their service.
It is men and women like you, that make me proud to be an America. I wish you all a very safe and happy 4th of July. God Bless America!
